Steadfast Partners Program Training Session

  • ABCCM Servant Leadership Center 20 Twentieth Street Asheville, NC 28806 USA (map)

Join ABCCM for a training session for the Steadfast Partners Program, which works to mitigate the effects of trauma by engaging families and providing a safe space for children to play, learn, grow and be encouraged by caring adults.

This one-day required training session includes an introduction to Steadfast House, program and curriculum overviews, and introduction to learning styles, volunteer expectations, practices around boundaries and confidentiality, and information about trauma-informed care.

Volunteers will be conciously paired with a child in the program with whom each week they will eat dinner, do a group activity to introduce the night's theme, and break into pairs to participate in activities centered on the week's theme.

Interested volunteers should fill out a volunteer application, which can be found here. All program volunteers must consent to a background check, attend an in-person interview, and complete the volunteer orientation and training session. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Please note that volunteers for this role must be able to commit to the program two hours a week for a minimum of six months.

For more information, contact Steadfast House interim volunteer coordinator Caleb Bradshaw at caleb.bradshaw@abccm.org or call 828-398-6985.
