Ingles, ABCCM, WLOS-TV & IHeart Radio Asheville is bringing awareness that many of our local children in Buncombe County are not getting adequate food they need when they are not in school. They are going hungry on weekends, holidays, teacher staff days, snow days, etc. Some schools have reported children pocketing food on Friday because they are worried about the weekend.

Join us in making a difference. All Buncombe County Ingles Markets will have special Ingles Kids Pantry areas. Purchase and place nutritious non-perishable foods in the Ingles Kids Pantry boxes located at the front of the store. Everyone in the area can also donate during the Ingles Kids Pantry special event at the 29 Tunnel Road Store from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9th. WLOS, 570WWNC, Rock 104.3 and others will be broadcasting throughout the day from the Tunnel Road Ingles. The food you donate will be delivered to schools throughout Buncombe County to feed thousands of children and their families struggling with food insecurity when school is not in session.
